Neptune operates on a strike-based moderation system to ensure fair enforcement while allowing users to correct behavior before facing severe penalties. This system is designed to warn, educate, and escalate consequences based on the severity and recurrence of violations.
Each account is treated individually, meaning strikes apply per handle, not per account. A user can have 3 handles linked to each account. However, if all three handles under a single phone number/email are banned, the user is permanently banned from Neptune.
More severe violations may result in all handles on an account being banned.
Infraction Levels & Consequences
Level 1 Violations
A minor violation, usually resulting in a warning being issued, without penalties.
Possible examples of a Level 1 Guideline Violation:
- Using excessive profanity in a non-18+ tagged post (first-time offenses).
- Not tagging a post as AI-generated (first-time offenses).
This list is not exhaustive.
For repeat violations on an account or multiple Level 1 violations, a higher level may be issued.
Level 1 Violations are eligible for appeal.
Level 2 Violations
These types of violations add 1 Strike to your handle. Level 2 Violations result in Handle-level limitations that last for 3 days. Related content is removed from the platform, and your Handle's content is not promoted to the Feed for this time.
Possible examples of a Level 2 Guideline Violation:
- Repeated Level 1 Violations
- Misinformation that breaks the Community Guidelines
- Unauthorized reposting
- Excessive profanity
- Inappropriate content
This list is not exhaustive.
For repeat violations on an account or multiple Level 2 violations, a higher level may be issued.
Level 2 Violations are eligible for appeal.
Level 3 Violations
These types of violations add 2 Strikes to your Handle. Level 3 Violations result in Handle-level limitations that last for 7 days. Related content is removed from the platform, and your Handle's content is not promoted to the Feed for this time.
Possible examples of a Level 3 Guideline Violation:
- Repeated Level 2 Violations
- Minor-level harassment
- Graphic content without proper tagging
This list is not exhaustive.
For repeat violations on an account or multiple Level 3 violations, a higher level may be issued.
Level 3 Violations are eligible for appeal.
Level 4 Violations
These types of violations add 3 strikes to your Handle. Level 4 Violations result in a Handle being permanently banned; remaining handles are still usable without limitation, as long as they do not break guidelines.
Possible examples of a Level 4 Guideline Violation:
- Repeated Level 3 Violations
- Threats of self-harm
- Doxxing
- Non-consensual intimate media
This list is not exhaustive.
For repeat violations on an account or multiple Level 4 violations, a higher level may be issued.
Level 4 Violations are eligible for appeal.
Level 5 Violations
These types of violations result in all handles under the user’s email/phone number permanently banned.
Possible examples of a Level 5 Guideline Violation:
- Repeated previous high-level violations
- Child exploitation
- Terrorist-related content
- Major hate speech
- Severe real-world threats
This list is not exhaustive.
For repeat violations on an account or multiple Level 5 violations, a higher level may be issued.
Level 5 Violations are not eligible for appeal.
Key Strike System Rules
- One Email & Phone Number Per Account: Each user is allowed only one email and one phone number for authentication. Each email can be linked to up to three handles, acting as a unique username.
- Permanent Ban Progression:
- If one handle is permanently banned, the user cannot create a replacement handle on that account.
- If two accounts are permanently banned, they are limited to one remaining handle.
- If all three handles are permanently banned, the user is permanently banned from Neptune.
- No Evading Bans: Users attempting to create new accounts after being permanently banned will have those new accounts immediately removed without warning.
- Reposting Shared Content That Warrants an Immediate Ban (Levels 4 & 5):
- If a user reposts or shares content that leads to an immediate ban (such as hate speech, doxxing, child exploitation), they will receive the same punishment as the original poster.
- This applies to reposts, editing that content into your own, reactions, and linked content.
Strikes remain attached to a Handle for 90 days. After that time, they will be removed.
Strike Escalation & Account Notifications
- Users receive clear notifications via email for each warning, strike, or ban.
- Users can track their strikes in "Account Settings > Violations" to monitor their standing.
- Content Restrictions:
- Accounts with strikes will have content suppressed in discovery algorithms until restrictions are lifted.
- Accounts with two strikes may lose access to monetization features temporarily.
