At Neptune, we recognize that moderation decisions may sometimes involve human error or misinterpretation. To ensure fairness, we allow all users the opportunity to appeal enforcement actions taken against their accounts except in cases of egregious violations requiring immediate and permanent bans.
General Appeal Guidelines
- All infractions except Level 5 violations (immediate permanent bans) are eligible for appeal.
- Appeals must be submitted within 7 days of receiving a violation notice.
- Each appeal will be reviewed manually by a moderation team member.
- Appeals that provide clear evidence of wrongful enforcement will result in content reinstatement and removal of the strike.
- Repeated unsuccessful appeals may result in limitations on future appeal requests.
Appeal Submission Process
To submit an appeal, users must:
- Log into Neptune and navigate to Account Settings > Violations.
- Select the specific infraction they wish to appeal.
- Provide a detailed explanation of why they believe the decision was incorrect.
- Attach supporting evidence, such as:
-
- Context of the post
- Screenshots
- Clarifications or corrections
-
- Submit the appeal for review.
Review and Resolution Timeline
Standard Appeals: Reviewed within 5 business days.
Complex Appeals: Reviewed within 10 business days by Neptune's senior moderation team.
Users will be notified via email about the decision.
If an appeal is granted:
- Content will be reinstated (if applicable).
- The strike and/or account limitations will be removed.
If an appeal is denied:
- The enforcement action remains in place.
- Users may not submit additional appeals for the same violation unless new evidence is provided.
